Grant Writing Intern

We have a paid internship opportunity at The Rescue Mission this June – September. We can adjust this schedule if needed for the right candidate. Starting rate of $14/hour.
Position Description
The Grant Writing Intern assists the Sr. VP of the Foundation with the responsibilities of maintaining and increasing funding. The Grant Intern should have the heart of a servant in accordance with Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Identify grants with the SR. V.P. of Foundation, prepare letters of inquiry, grant proposals, narrative sections of funding applications, and manage supporting documents for foundations and grant funders.
- Manage the proposal submission process to ensure timely submission of all required materials as well as coordinate and follow-up on the progress of submitted proposals. Update/maintain online grants submission, grantor communications, and internal reporting calendar and the donor database.
Other Duties
- Attend quarterly All Staff meetings.

- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Be prepared to pray with and offer spiritual support to others.
Education Training and Experience
- Enrolled in a university or college working towards a degree in nonprofit management, commutation or another related field.
- Experience with grant writing, preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Advanced computers skills with knowledge of Internet, email, spreadsheets and databases and Microsoft Office Applications and donor databases, ideally e-Tapestry.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate the aspects of The Rescue Mission for grant submissions.
- Strong planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Strong team player who also works well independently.
- Personal and Professional commitment to the organization’s mission and vision.
- Ability to work with individuals of various socio-economic, ethnic, and racial populations.
- Ability to comply with personal and business requirements and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
