Intake Coordinator

We have a full-time opening for an Intake Coordinator at The Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. The Schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with a starting wage of $19/hour.
Position Description
The Intake Coordinator provides intakes for all men seeking emergency services of Life House by gathering information from new or returning participants in a clear, concise, and confidential manner and ensuring all forms and documents, including the Life House Guidelines are reviewed, signed, and secured in the electronic record system. The Intake Coordinator should have the heart of a servant in accordance with Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provides intakes for all men seeking emergency services of Life House by gathering information from new or returning participants in a clear, concise, and confidential manner and ensuring all forms and documents, including the Life House Guidelines are reviewed, signed, and secured in the medical record.
- Orients and supports participants staying at The Rescue Mission, assists participants and community guests with basic needs, and ensures adherences to Life House Guidelines.
- Ensures each intake is accurately paired with bed and locker assignments.
- Ensures all participants property are accurately tagged and placed in storage upon initial intake process.
Other Duties
- Attend quarterly All Staff meetings.
- Attend monthly Life House staff meetings.
- Job performance should demonstrate The Rescue Mission’s Core Values; Organizational Integrity, Organizational Unity and Organizational Effectiveness.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Be prepared to pray with and offer spiritual support to others.
Education, Training, and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Commitment to continuing education in the human services or related field.
- Two or more years of experience working in Life House highly preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of internet and email, experience with Mission Tracker preferred.
- Ability to work with individuals of various socio-economic, ethnic, and racial populations.
- Ability to comply with personal and business requirements and expectations as detailed in the Staff Handbook.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Completion of Trauma Informed Care training.
- Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow through until completion.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations, and maintain flexibility.
- Good observation skills of the environment and the people within it.
- Self-motivated.
