Host a Donation Drive
Do you want to raise awareness and needed items for the homeless and hungry in the community? Host a donation drive!
You’ve probably seen or even participated in a canned good drive, but there are so many more options. Get a group together from your church, school, work, or just a group of friends and do good together!
At The Rescue Mission, we are able to provide needed items for residents and community members that are struggling with food scarcity or a homelessness crisis because of the generosity of donations. Donations are the lifeblood of serving those in need.
Before hosting a donation drive, we’d love to meet with you and share more about The Rescue Mission, who we are and our vision for Kingdom Impact by serving those in need as we are called to do.
Have you toured our building at 404 E. Washington Blvd.? If not, we’d love to show you around! This gives you a chance to learn about our services and find discover what connects most with your passions. It could be our 3 hot meals a day, every day of the year, our men’s Outreach Program, or maybe our women’s shelter and services. Whatever piques your interest, we’d love to partner together.
Not sure if everyone in your organization or friend group has heard of The Rescue Mission? Don’t worry – we are here to help with that too! We are here to equip you with all the resources you need to share about the mission, services we offer to residents, and community resources. From pock-size resource guides to information about programming, we’re here to help set up your donation drive for success. Don’t forget to share about your drive and tag us on socials so that we can engage with your posts!
Don’t forget – you can get creative with this and have fun! You don’t have to simply collect donations of one single item. You can even make this a collaborative group project! Consider raising money for a specific donation, like fruit. Once the money is collected, a group can go out and have fun shopping for fruit together!
As seasons change, the most needed items change too, while some items are requested year-round, such as flip-flops for men to wear in the showers.
Here are some ideas:
- Travel sized deodorant & bathroom toiletries
