Often, we jump straight to the what or how (do you feel) and miss the who.
They are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” YouVersion, Psalm 139:14 . Those experiencing a homeless crisis are our sons, daughters, moms, dads, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, Veterans...our neighbors.
Their identity does not equal their housing status, income, success, or appearance.
In our community…
- 500 individuals live in encampments every day, according to estimates.
- 80 people sleep in cars each night.
- 80 families live night-to-night in a hotel room.
- 1,300 kids in Fort Wayne Community Schools sleep on a couch due to unstable housing.
