Volunteer Spotlight: Marilyn McClure
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food to eat is anything high in sugar. But if we mean a real meal, it would be German Pot Roast with mashed potatoes and gravy.
What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie of all time is "It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart. To me, it tells the story of what we wish every family and community would look like.
What is your favorite thing to do?
My favorite thing to do is spend time doing outreach at my church and spending time with the wonderful people there.
What is your favorite Bible verse?
Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
What/who brought you to The Rescue Mission?
Not to sound too corny, but I was brought to The Rescue Mission by the Holy Spirit who answered my prayer to serve somewhere new to me.
How long have you been volunteering with The Rescue Mission?
I have been volunteering at The Rescue Mission for about eight years.
How has volunteering at The Rescue Mission impacted you?
It has impacted me in the sense of opening my eyes to the fact that there is much need in our community concerning homelessness and addiction and hunger, especially the children. And that we are all expected by God to look after one another, no matter who or where.
If you could describe your experience with The Rescue Mission in three words, what would it be?
Love. Compassion. Jesus.
